There are a variety of jobs within the Civil Engineering Industry making it a dynamic career choice and with businesses in the North East looking for qualified civil engineers, there's never been a better time to study this course.

This course will develop you as a professional, self-reflecting individual able to meet the demands of employers in the civil engineering sector and adapt to a constantly changing world.

The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is recognised by industry, meaning you will leave the course in a great position to go straight into work, or to progress onto a degree in Civil Engineering. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills hands-on, with specialist software and equipment such as BIM (Building Information Modelling) and surveying equipment.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points in Engineering, Maths, Science disciplines or a relevant Level 3 qualification in Civil Engineering or similar.

Once your application has been reviewed, you may be invited to attend an interview at Newcastle College University Centre.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria in an appropriate subject, you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 5 or higher in GCSE Maths and English Language or the Level 2 equivalent (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

At Newcastle College University Centre, we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

Work Experience

As a Civil Engineering student, you will benefit from the college's close links with industry. You will take part in Industry Week, where you are able to network with employers and take part in mock interviews to prepare you for the industry.
