This FdA Advanced Techniques in Media and Semi-Permanent Make-Up degree is an ideal course for those with a passion for media and theatrical make-up who are seeking to gain advanced semi-permanent make-up skills.

This course will provide you with knowledge and skills to effectively manage the quality of services offered in the industry, to develop advanced capabilities in providing a range of progressive treatments as well as expertise in the field of advanced make-up. You will work with high-quality, specialised equipment and learn highly advanced skills which will enhance your career prospects in the make-up industry.

During this degree, you will also work with industry-renowned brands to develop a unique skill set in cosmetic, theatrical and reconstructive make-up whilst developing your business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to prepare you for employment in industry.

Entry requirements

32-64 UCAS points (in related Hair, Make-Up or Beauty Therapy subjects).

You may be invited to a discretionary interview.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria in an appropriate subject(s), you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and maths or the Level 2 equivalence (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

Where can I progress?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you could progress your studies onto our BA (Hons) Advanced Principles in Media Make-Up (Top-Up) degree or, alternatively, you can enter into employment or start a freelance business. This make-up degree will help you to develop the skills you need to pursue a range of roles at managerial level in the theatrical and media make-up industry, as well as in semi-permanent make-up clinics and self-employment.
